Nervous System-Centered Chiropractic

Chiropractic is not the treatment of conditions or disease; rather, it is the restoration of normal body function. Our chiropractors work with the nervous system via gentle spinal adjustments, which reduces stress-related interference to the nervous system, and enhances overall body function. Every system in the body — circulatory, digestive, eliminatory, hormonal, glandular, immunological, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, and skeletal — depends on the optimal function of the nervous system.

With chiropractic, true healing is coming from within the body rather than from the chiropractor’s adjustment. And it’s not just about popping or cracking to relieve back pain. Chiropractic care should always begin with the nervous system to determine what interferences are causing the imbalance; the pain, and removing those, rather than just a ‘Band-Aid’ approach of only addressing the physical symptoms.

Chiropractic care is the foundation for true healing because it unleashes your body’s innate ability to heal itself. Our chiropractors use a tonal analysis through the MC2 technique to determine where the nervous system interference is located within your body and are trained in Diversified, Gonstead, Thompson, Activator, Upper Cervical, Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), and Torque Release Technique.

Prenatal Chiropractic

Research shows that prenatal chiropractic care contributes to a more straightforward labor with less pain and trauma for mother and child. It can improve the balance and alignment of the spine and pelvis and provide a more comfortable pregnancy and delivery for mother and baby. By restoring balance to the nervous system through gentle + specific nervous system-centered chiropractic adjustments, optimal function to the reproductive organs is restored thus supporting the needs of your baby throughout pregnancy.

Our chiropractors are certified in Webster Technique from International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and firmly believes that if you’re under chiropractic care during pregnancy, your chiropractor should be certified in this technique.

Pediatric Chiropractic

Birth is tough work for both mothers and babies. There are a lot of pressures and forces being exerted onto your baby during their journey into the world. A recent study by Viola Frymann demonstrated that 90% of newborns suffered the effects of birth trauma.

Birth in its many different forms can be quite traumatic. While each birth is unique, there is always a chance that the baby suffers some sort of strain due to a variety of reasons. Even the most natural births can result in trauma that goes undetected.

Left uncorrected, this trauma continues to impact a baby’s spinal growth and development, reducing the healthy function of the nervous system. 65% of neurological development (development of the brain and nervous system) occurs in the child’s first year so it’s imperative to ensure that your baby has every opportunity to maximize their nerve function during this critical period in their development.

Although all infants should be checked right after birth, here are 3 clear indicators to bring your baby to a pediatric chiropractor:

  1. Their head tilts to one side, even after you straighten it

  2. They seem to have difficulty turning their neck to one side

  3. They have difficulty settling down or sleeping soundly

Our chiropractors also have additional training from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and firmly believe that if you’re taking your infant or child in for chiropractic care, your chiropractor should have done continuing education in pediatrics through the ICPA.

Whole Family

We stand for healthy families — dads and grandparents included! We focus on serving and supporting the entire family. While we do have additional training and certifications to care for pregnant women and infants exceptionally well, we believe families function at their best when they’re all under care.

CLA INSiGHT

CLA INSiGHT is a computerized, non-invasive, painless test that allows us to get a baseline of how your body is reacting to the stressors mentioned above. It measures how your nerves communicate with your muscles, how your nerves communicate with your organs, and how your nervous system adapts to stress.

These scans allow us to accurately detect dysfunction in your nervous system beyond what you may be feeling or experiencing symptomatically.

They are incredibly informative tests that don’t cause any discomfort. They’re safe and gentle for the entire family — even newborns!

In our everyday life, our nervous systems perceive and are having to adapt:

  • traumas (physical stressors such as birth, slips/falls, car accidents)

  • toxins (chemical stressors such as poor food choices, pollutants, drugs)

  • autosuggestion (emotional stressors such as school, work, bullies)

The INSiGHT scans are made up of the three most important spinal-neural tests:  Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Surface EMG, and Thermal — which work together to tell us how stress is impacting your overall health and well-being.

Heart Rate Variability

Your heart rate variability, or HRV, scan measures how your nervous system is adapting to stress. This lets us know if you’re stuck in a stressed mode of function or a calm mode of function.

sEMG (Static Electromyography)

sEMG scans assess how the nerves are communicating with the muscles that maintain posture. Knowing how this communication is being distributed gives us a good overall picture of the function of the nervous system.

Rolling Thermal

Rolling thermal scans take temperatures along your spine. In the same way that the skin around a healing cut will get hot, our nerves give off a heat response when there is interference. This measures how our nerves are communicating with organs, glands, and blood vessels.

Policies

Appointment Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is reserved just for you and/or your family. It is required to provide notice of at least 24 hours to cancel or reschedule appointments. This helps to ensure that we can run an efficient and effective practice and meet the needs of those who are waiting to get an appointment. Cancellations made prior to 24 hours of your appointment will not be charged. Cancellations or rescheduled appointments made less than 24 hours of your appointment and no shows will be charged the FULL amount of the service booked using the payment information on file. An email, text, or social media message does not qualify as a cancellation.

Appointment Responsibility Policy

Your appointments are available to you at any time through Jane, our online scheduling portal. You are responsible for remembering the date and time of your appointment. We recommend that you add appointments to a calendar immediately after booking.

Communication Policy

Because we have a small team running our operations... the best way to get in touch with us is via text. If you are running late, the best way to let us know is by sending a text to our office phone 469-663-4114. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we kindly ask that you do so through the Jane app. This is not the same number that texts your appointment reminders.

Late Arrival Policy

We must adhere to the time allotted for your appointment to respect our time and the time of all practice members. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early for your scheduled appointment. This allows for a stress-free arrival with a few moments to relax. If you are 5 minutes late to your appointment, there will be less time for us to review your health goals, gain an understanding of your response to nervous system centered chiropractic care, perform a detailed neurospinal analysis and deliver gentle, yet specific adjustments. We understand that life happens and we do our best to extend grace to all the families we serve, but with appointments scheduled every 10 minutes, you've already missed half your appointment. To accommodate every practice member, we will shorten your appointment time if you arrive late. If you are 10 minutes late, your appointment will be rescheduled and charged in FULL.

Family Scheduling Policy

If you and at least one other member of your family are under care, please book with a family membership. When you book with another person under a family membership, you can add in the notes the names of all those getting adjusted. If only one person is getting adjusted, write in the notes “only me.” If you and other members of your family are booking adjustments, it is recommended that you have your appointments at the same time, although it is not a requirement.

Family Discount Policy

We offer family discounts when multiple family members come under care. The second family member to begin care will pay $175 for their first visit ($75 discount). The third family member and on will pay $125 for their first visit ($125 discount).

Financial Policy

Payments are due at the time of service or as agreed upon at the beginning of your care. All practice members are required to keep a credit or debit card on file. We accept cash, credit cards, and debit cards (including HSA and Flex Spending cards). We DO NOT provide diagnostic codes or superbills for the purpose of insurance reimbursement. However, we are happy to provide an itemized receipt for your records. If you desire to receive care, we will make every attempt to provide an affordable payment arrangement.

Auto-Renewal Policy

Your membership will automatically renew on your billing date. The card that we have on file will be used to cover the cost of your visits.

Allergy Notice

Since many of our practice members suffer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, we ask you to not wear any perfumes, colognes, or scented lotions.

No Shoes Policy

One of the best ways to create a healthy home is to adopt a no-shoes-indoors policy. Since we always have little ones crawling around on the ground and are passionate about keeping our office free from toxins, we require everyone to remove their shoes before entering into our space.

Team-Based Practice Policy

We have a team-based practice, meaning everyone will be seen and served by all of our in-house chiropractors equally. This way, you get more than one brain, heart, and set of eyes for your optimal health, healing, and function!

Membership Policy

In order to best support you, it is ideal to see your chiropractor on a regular basis and we value consistency. When it comes to nervous system centered chiropractic care, we understand that our bodies heal in layers and to meet your wellness goals, it is beneficial to have a regular long term relationship. We are here to support you through it all. To make this financially feasible for a larger percentage of the community, we offer memberships. This is an opportunity for you to pre-pay for a specific number of visits at a discounted rate each month. Our front desk staff will communicate these financial options with you at your first visit, but all pre-paid memberships are based on specific frequencies of care.

Membership Cancellation Policy

All of our memberships can be canceled after 3 months. If you need to cancel your membership, or switch to a different membership, you must notify our Front Desk Staff 7 days before your next billing date.

Informed Consent Policy

I have read, or have had read to me, the above consent. I appreciate that it is not possible to consider every possible complication to care. I have also had an opportunity to ask questions about its content, and by signing below, I agree with the current or future recommendation to receive chiropractic care as is deemed appropriate for my circumstance. I intend this consent to cover the entire course of care from all providers in this office for my present condition and for any future condition(s) for which I seek chiropractic care from this office.

Philosophical Agreement + Terms of Service

When a person seeks Chiropractic care and we accept to provide such care, it is essential we have a clear understanding of our objectives and responsibilities. The following concepts are central to the way Chiropractic is practiced in our office: Health is the state of optimal physical, mental, and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease, symptoms, or infirmity. Alterations or distortion to the tone, tension, or shape of the nervous system (especially the spine) interferes with its ability to function optimally. This interference is referred to as vertebral subluxation. The purpose of the chiropractic adjustment in this office is to assist the body in correcting vertebral subluxations in order to remove any interference, thereby restoring clear communication throughout the body and optimizing the overall expression of health. We do not offer diagnosis or treatment for specific diseases. Our only practice objective is to analyze and correct vertebral subluxations, as well as support your body in the process of healing and integrating your adjustments. If during your assessment a non-chiropractic finding arises you will be informed and referred to the appropriate healthcare provider.

Report of Findings Cancellation Policy

If you do your Report of Findings within a month of your First Visit, it’s free. If you don’t come back for over a month, your Report of Findings will cost $100. The cost of your Report of Findings is included in the payment for your First Visit. If you cancel your Report of Findings within 24 hours or fail to show up, you will not be charged. If you reschedule and cancel your Report of Findings within 24 hours or fail to show up a second time, you will be charged $100. If you reschedule and cancel your report within 24 hours or fail to show up a third time, we will need to schedule another First Visit at the full price.

6 Months Since Last Visit Policy

This appointment is required for former practice members who haven't been to our office in six months. It's your chance to update us on what's changed with your health during the time we have missed you. We'll review your health goals and do a CLA INSiGHT scan to assess the changes in your nervous system.

1 Year Since Last Visit Policy

This appointment is required for former practice members who haven’t been to our office in a year or longer. During this visit, we will do an initial consultation, CLA INSiGHT nervous system scans, and get you adjusted.

What is chiropractic?

The purpose of chiropractic care is not the treatment of conditions or disease; rather, it is the restoration of normal body function. As chiropractors, we work with the nervous system via gentle spinal adjustments. We reduce stress related interference to the nervous system, thereby enhancing overall body function. All the systems of the body — circulatory, digestive, eliminatory, hormonal, glandular, immunological, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, and skeletal — depend on the optimal function of the nervous system. Our conventional healthcare system is mechanistic in that it views the body broken down into its distinct mechanical parts and there’s a specialist responsible for caring for each individual system.

A healing model based on vitalism, however, believes that the body is a dynamic, ever-changing organism, continuously changing and adapting to its needs and desires. Vitalism also assumes that there is an intelligence and order within the organism that is designed to heal the body, and every system in the body coordinates functions with each other system. Chiropractic is designed on the concept of vitalism. It is believed that the body has an Innate Intelligence to healing, and dis-ease occurs when the body’s natural ability to adapt to life’s forces (stress, environmental toxins, traumatic events) is interrupted.

The thing that disrupts this communication pathway is called a subluxation, which interferes with the normal function of the nervous system. By removing subluxations through a very safe, specific, and controlled force applied to a joint, the interference is removed and the body’s nervous system is able to function fully and properly. In essence, with chiropractic, true healing is coming from within the body rather than from the chiropractor’s adjustment. Overall, conventional medicine is based on an outside-in approach where healing comes from something being added to the body, such as medicine or surgery, while chiropractic is based on an inside-out approach where healing occurs when the body’s own healing powers are activated.

What technique do y’all use?

We may utilize a variety of adjusting techniques throughout your care so that your body can receive the adjustments it needs at the appropriate time and place that is most synergistic for the overall balancing of your nervous system. Our chiropractors use a tonal analysis through the MC2 technique to determine where the nervous system interference is located within your body and are trained in Diversified, Gonstead, Thompson, Activator, Upper Cervical, Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), and Torque Release Technique.

Why should I go to a chiropractor during my pregnancy?

Research shows that prenatal chiropractic care contributes to a more straightforward labor with less pain and trauma for mother and child. It can improve the balance and alignment of the spine and pelvis and can provide a more comfortable pregnancy and delivery for mother and baby. By restoring balance to the nervous system through gentle and specific nervous system centered chiropractic adjustments, optimal function to the reproductive organs is restored thus supporting the needs of your baby throughout pregnancy. Our chiropractors are certified in Webster Technique from the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).

Why should I bring my baby to a chiropractor?

There are a lot of pressures and forces being exerted onto your baby during their journey into the world. A recent study by Viola Frymann demonstrated that 90% of newborns suffered the effects of birth trauma: associated strain through the neck and cranial areas following birth. Frymann, an American osteopathic doctor, studied more than 1,500 babies periodically across an 8 year period. She examined all babies within the first 5 days of birth; in fact, many were checked within the first 24 hours. The study revealed that 10% of the newborn babies had perfectly, freely mobile skulls or cranial mechanisms. 10% had severe trauma to the head, evident even to untrained observers. The remaining 80% all had some strain patterns in the cranial mechanisms. Birth in its many different forms can be quite traumatic. While each birth is unique, there is always a chance that the baby suffers some sort of strain due to a variety of reasons. Even the most natural births can result in trauma that goes undetected. As researcher G. Gutmann has written, “The trauma from the birth process remains an under-publicized and therefore significantly under-treated problem.” Here is a list of some things that can cause birth trauma in infants:

  • Very short labor (under 2 hours)

  • Very long labor (over 8 hours)

  • The use of Pitocin to strengthen / induce uterine contractions

  • Pain medications

  • Restricted maternal birthing positions

  • Pulling or twisting on the head to deliver the infant’s body

  • The use of forceps or vacuum extraction

  • Cesarean delivery

Left uncorrected, this trauma continues to impact a baby’s spinal growth and development, reducing the healthy function of the nervous system. 65% of neurological development (development of the brain and nervous system) occurs in the child’s first year so it’s imperative to ensure that your baby has every opportunity to maximize their nerve function during this critical period in their development. Our chiropractors have additional training from the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) to be able to serve little ones especially well.

Will I crack or pop during my adjustment?

Sometimes, but that’s not our goal. We are known for being gentle and specific. Our mission is to increase your body’s ability to adapt stressors. We do this through a gentle and specific analysis of your nervous system with MC2. Sometimes we do use our hands for adjustments, but most of the time we use either an Activator or Integrator instrument. For infants, there’s never any fast movements, twisting, cracking, or popping.

We’d love to hear from you.
